On October 31, 2023, Mr. Cooper (previously Nationstar Mortgage LLC) became the target of a cybersecurity incident. This means if you are a real estate agent with a closing scheduled for the beginning of November, a buyer preparing to close on their dream home, or a homeowner whose loan is serviced or was scheduled to be serviced by Mr. Cooper as of November 1, 2023, you may be impacted.
As a result of the incident Mr. Cooper was unable to process payments from November 1 through November 6th, 2023.
As of today, Mr. Cooper is once again able to take payments and provide limited information about your loan on their website.
If you have a closing scheduled:
Pursuant to their website, Mr. Cooper has indicated they are actively working to resolve the issues and restore their systems as soon as possible to ensure all scheduled closings occur on time. They have also stated they continue to honor their “Close on Time Guarantee”. They have further promised that any rate locks will be honored and not impacted by the incident.
If you are a current customer of Mr. Cooper:
Mr. Cooper has confirmed they are now capable of processing payments for current customers. You may pay online, by phone, by mail, my western Union Quick Collection or Moneygram.
If your loan was transferred to Mr. Cooper with November 1, 2023 transfer date:
Mr. Cooper has stated the incident may impact your ability to access your account information for the first time.
As of November 9, 2023 Mr. Cooper advised they believe certain customer’s private information has been exposed. While they are continuing to investigate it is important that all customers monitor their financial accounts and report any irregularities to the authorities immediately.
